A Memorial Service for Branko Winston Churchill will be held at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, August 8th at the Flying W Ranch, 3330 Chuckwagon Road, Colorado Springs. The service will be held at the outdoor seating area at the back of the property.
The reception will follow the service at the home of Dennis & Jovanka Mersman, 1180 Golden Hills Road, Colorado Springs.
We welcome all of his friends and family.

I was returning from an overnight camping trip with my 4 year old son this morning when my wife phoned me about the article in the post and news of Winston's passing. I am shocked and very sad. I had no idea he had gone missing or of his struggles over the past few years. I met Winston many years ago when he worked for Turin bikes in Denver and liked him from the minute we met. He was kind, considerate and genuine. he was an amazingly strong cyclist. We often talked about a mutual love for Volksawagons, vans in particular. And when he said he was moving to Silverton he seemed so excited and happy. I visited him in Silverton in August of 2007 and he proudly served me up an espresso while telling me how he had sold his Eurovan so that he could purchase the great espresso machine for his shop. He seemed good and proud of his shop and offered to guide me on a backcountry ski trip into the mountains around Silverton. Unfortunately we never made this happen. When I heard later that he had left Silverton and left the shop without leaving much information as to where he was going, I was concerned. That didn't seem to fit with who I new him to be. I have almost daily wondered what had happened to him and I am very sad to hear about his mental health issues and his disconnection from the people that loved him. Mental illness is real and it takes away those we love way too soon. May peace be with him now.
