Happy Birthday, Winston!
We wanted to echo what Winston's dad (Winston) wrote on the Google group---a very happy birthday to Winston!!! We continue to keep him in our thoughts and keep our hopes up for his safe return. If you haven't done so already, please check out the Google group posts; there have been some nice notes and some interesting tid-bits (speculation). However, for the most part, there have been no new developments or information over the past week and a half. We know that large game hunting is still going on in those parts of Colorado so we remain hopeful for some information/leads from hunters. Communication remains with citizens of Lake City, CO and we will of course post any information as we receive it. It seems that the easiest and most readily accessible info has been the Google group so please be sure to check there as well. Thanks, everyone! And please keep Winston especially strong in your heart today, on his birthday.

I received a call last night with similar information. Its hard as it gets passed on because it is like playing telephone. In any case, I was told he a sleeping bag tied around his waist and a low slung backpack. I can't imagine he would be wearing shorts, but I'm also not sure what his state of mind is at this point. He also could have had camp set up somewhere which could explain his light load. I have left a message with Sean at the Archeleto police department and am waiting for his response. I guess it is possible that in the month+ he has been missing he could have made it this far. There may possibly be a video someone got of him. I'm not sure how, or why, but the woman I spoke with is going to try and get a hold of it and get it to me. I will keep you all updated as I find out more information. Happy Birthday Winston (yeah, yeah, you don't celebrate these sorts of things, I know) :)
a couple of our search and rescue crew members completed a wilderness-emt course w/ a women who manages the 50000+ acre ranch where winston has been confirmed and identified, near chromo. he is traveling light. he's spent time with hunters. he's traveling off trail. apparently winston was "respectful and pleasant" with the questioning sheriff.
if i hear anymore tips, i'll certainly let you all know, but i'm just going to let winston be for now.

Have you had any updates on Winston since this post? I saw a "missing" flyer at the North Crestone Creek Trailhead back at the end of September.
I hope everything's well. It's been a snowy winter....
